I haven’t gotten on well with this assignment at all. I am fine with doing walk cycles of different moods and expressions, and I am pretty confident when it comes to framing and moving a character across the stage, but somehow this one has been causing me a lot of trouble. I feel like it is difficult to show the two distinct expressions when the character has to move from one side of the stage to the other without any camera movement. It seems to me like that restricts them to around two or three footfalls for each emotion, which I do not feel is enough time to get the mood across. If the camera could move with the character, I think this would allow sufficient time to understand the mood before they react to whatever it is they see. I understand that animators are often required to find solutions to issues like this, but I am finding this exercise a bit of a pain and cannot come up with a satisfying way to make it work for me. Lots of my classmates have had no issue making it look great but this one is stumping me. I will come back to it later. You can see what I have come up with so far, but I do not think it represents my strengths at all.
