This is more like it, I haven’t ever had to do four legged walks or runs before, so this felt like exciting new ground. I really enjoyed looking into how four legged animals work internally, and how their walks change completely when they move at different paces. For instance, a horse’s regular walk is pretty much like a person’s with a secondary pair of legs that are inverted behind the front pair. A person’s run is usually just a sped up version of their run following the same motion, but a horse’s is some weirdo movement pattern where the hooves hit the ground in a short string burst before it looks like it floats momentarily. It is a really fun challenge to try to get it to look right. Here you can see my two attempts at a 2D horse walking and prancing, as well as a 3D horse run and a personal piece featuring my original character “Running Bomb,” who moves with a wave like run that is similar to the way a dog moves.
